Return to Music Ed. 101!
By the Tree - Invade My Soul - OK is
this an album review or a concert review because believe me they are two
totally different matters. Here's the thing, I saw these guys in concert
before I listened to the CD. Concert good - CD bad. The lead guy (who by
the way has a goatee almost as cool as mine) was unbelievable when he
was freestyle rapping, but otherwise he was a little cocky and overly
hyper. But overall the live show was very cool. Then I put in the CD
hoping for a similar experience - I thought I would sit, enjoy, and
reminisce about an amazing concert. Oh my! Did they hire idiot doubles
for in studio work? Maybe the guy hadn't started his goatee yet (hint:
think Sampson - the longer the goatee the cooler the band). Maybe the CD
is not all that bad, but it certainly isn't what I expected.
P.O.D. - Satellite - OK so I haven't heard this
whole album yet - but I have heard the first single and it rocks! "I
feel so alive" it says - and you will when you hear it. The premiere
Christian rock group of 1999/2000 has responded with another smash hit.
If you are even vaguely into this type of music, you are bound to like
this new stuff from P.O.D. - Oh and by the way the SM headquarters has
the only picture of the cover of this album that anyone has outside of
the label and distribution company. Please don't ask us to send/show it
to you - we have promised Chordant that it wouldn't leave our computer.
Kevin Max - Stereotype Be - Freak Freak Freak.
Talk about a freak! The prerelease copy has him dressed Victorian style
with a feathered scarf sipping tea. Not to mention that this is the guy
that was hitting on a friend of mine last month....Uh aren't you
married? "You're smile got me through" he tells her. Sad. Oh and what's
up with the last name MAX? Does that make him related to Toby MAC? Oh
wait I guess MAX would be the plural of MAC - or something like that.
Anyway - about the CD...It's ok.
Shaun Groves - Invitation to Eavesdrop - Who is
he? You'll know him soon. The latest edition to the rocketown label is
going to make a big splash somehow. He's a little rockier that the
typical artist on that label, but they will still give him the same push
and he'll get the same result. If you can get Ginny Owens the sympathy
vote new artist of the year, you can do something even better with this
guy who can actually sing well. I highly suggest you listen to this one.
I haven't heard a single complaint about it yet. I like it and that's
all that counts anyway!
