Return to Music Ed. 101!
Tait - Empty - This is the first of
three solo attempts from the members of DC Talk. All three of these are
sure to get a lot of media attention, so I may as well put my opinion
into it too. I have already heard so many mixed reviews about this, but
my overall opinion is positive. I'm not sure it was the style I was
looking for, but what he did was good. He's got a good mix of
Alternative and Contemporary sounds, which makes this an album that is
sure to please everyone in one way or another. I'm especially fond of
Loss For Words, Alibi, and All You've Got. Get this one - you won't be
disappointed.
Spinaround - Face the Crowd - I tell you what I
think - Pamplin has a house band that changes their group name for each
album. Haven't I seen these same guys like 10 times before? This fall,
they're coming out as a group called Kindred - look for that one. Look
closely and there are four people on the front cover and only two on the
back - what - did they lose members between photo shoots? You gotta be
kidding me right? The only way this album is leaving the store is in a
returns box on a UPS truck.
Bride - Fist Full of Bees - This is a mixed
review in itself, but count it as a positive one. Let me just set the
stage and say - does every rock group have to try to sound like P.O.D.?
This is not Bride's style! Anyway, if you walk up to this album and
close your eyes so you don't see the group name, this isn't all that bad
of a CD. I like that style and if you can do it well, that's cool. Just
name yourselves something else. Sure, buy this one - just don't expect
the same ol' Bride.
Big Tent Revival - Live One Night Only - Is
that all they could stand being together, or is this another ploy to get
out of a recording contract? These groups that come out with best of
albums and live albums (which are best of albums with people screaming
so that the listener thinks that there are people that like this group)
after only releasing a couple of previous albums are stupid. If people
want to hear you live, they'll go to your show - and if it's "one night
only" - you have trouble finding fans! No, No, No folks - don't
encourage live ones and best of's by buying this album.
