Return to Music Ed. 101!
Circadian Rhythm - Over Under Everything -
Let me first say that I have a lot of respect for these guys and I think
that they will go a long way in Christian music. These are my boys from
Lynchburg, so I have to be biased, but this is truly quality music and a
quality group. We actually just had them in the store this past week
just hangin out. Don't believe anything you hear about this being the
style that they have always played. Not entirely true. They used to be
rockers. For this I am disappointed that they kinda wimped out, but they
did a good job nonetheless. Their label was looking to create the next
Sonic Flood and they probably did. I'm just hoping that they haven't
stifled the rock! We'll see what happens to these guys in the future,
but I say - go get this one.
Chonda Pierce - Four Eyed Blonde - This album
may as well be called notfunny.com. I have never appreciated her comedy
and I'm not sure that I ever will. It's hard for me to believe that she
is still around after all these years, but they are saving a bit of
money, in that they are still using the original photo shoot for all the
front covers. She sort of reminds me of Joan Cusak - an equally not
funny but funny looking woman. Is this woman related to Jonathan Pierce
like Joan is related to John Cusak? That would be kinda neat.
Cadet - Cadet - What a band! Even my mother
likes them. All of a sudden, my mother is into the same bands that I am
- scary! Maybe she has been brainwashed by this very page as you are
experiencing right this moment. Anyway - It's punk, it's surfer, it's
retro, it's great! They even do a cover of the Monkees' tune I'm a
Believer. Check out God Man - a very cool song. I saw them in concert at
EXPO in a room full of forty- and fifty-somethings, but they still
rocked. I'm sure that it was a little uncomfortable for them to play for
that crowd, but you must remember that the other two acts were T-Bone
and Raze. No comment on the recent acts of the latter.
The Best of the 2001 Dove Awards - Speaking
of the latter, I hear that they still won a couple of Doves, which
brings me to my point: What in the world has happened to the Dove
Awards!?!? Is there such thing as the best of the Doves? Isn't this just
a bigger version of the retailer choice awards that was a total
embarrassment? Oh and not to mention that they have taken the Olympic
style of broadcasting and have decided not to show it live, not to show
it the next day, or the day after that, or a week later even. The Doves
are long over and I still don't know who won half of them. I could go on
the internet to find out, but then what is the use of them broadcasting
it at all? Oh yeah this is a CD review.....This CD is lame.
