Writer's
Block to Golden Brick
I really cannot stand times like this. The SM deadline is here and I
have been racking my brain for 2 weeks trying to figure out what I am
gonna say in this month's column. For the first time in several months,
I can't think of anything that happened to me in this last month that
really made me fall out on the floor laughing (with the exception of the
creation of this month's Top Ten).
I did cut my hair for an interview that never happened. It wasn't
because I was late or blew it off, they just never called me to begin
with. But that's ok, who wants to work as a bank teller anyway....wait a
minute...I DO...I need a job.
I'm getting annoyed with my truck. I have no AC. It isn't all that fun
driving to work and arriving drenched in sweat. It's so hot in my truck
sometimes, I have to hang my head out the window while I drive in order
to cool off. I do not recommend this to anyone cause it hurts getting
hit in the eye by a bug or flying gravel.
I mentioned work just a second ago. I have a complaint about this too. I
work as a waiter. My uniform consists of white tennis shoes, khaki
shorts/pants, and a white short sleeve polo with the company logo. The
sleeves and collar are tipped in navy blue. Anyone who has ever seen me
eat, knows that a white shirt and food are not a good combination with
me. I go in clean, and come out looking like impressionistic art. I have
to bleach my shirt almost everyday. However, the constant bleaching has
taken the blue around the sleeves and collar and turned it pink. This
could explain why the gay man I waited on looked interested when he
ordered "Bob's Chocolate Thunder" for dessert.
I also had the opportunity to go sing at the adult care home for
Alzheimer's patients where my grandfather lives. My mother and I sang
some contemporary songs and some old hymns. Despite their short term
memory loss, they all remembered the old hymns from their past and some
of them sang along with us. It was fun and I was happy to do it. I'm
just glad I didn't choose to sing Michael O'Brien's song "If Ever I
Forget."
Well, I guess that is all I have to say for this month. I lost my voice
the other night and all this talking is making my throat hurt.
Until next month, y'all take care and Lord bless ya!

BeeboLand/SM Restau-RantThis
month, the SM Food Critic stopped by Cici's Pizza for a bite to eat. The
$3.99 all-you-can-eat buffet sounded very enticing and it did not fall
short of it's task. Upon entering the establishment, customers are
greeted with shouts of "Hey! Welcome to Cici's!!" from the back. The
price covers salad, pasta, and pizza. Drinks are extra, but two can eat
for just over $10 and not feel cheated. Smiling faces from the staff are
everywhere and greetings of "How are you." |
